The Road to Sustainability: Kicking Off the Portugal Tour at Ribamar

The Hustle Begins: Ribamar Skatepark and the Quest to Save TrucksandFins

Five years. That is how long I’ve been pouring every cent of my savings, all my energy and every minute of my my day time into building TrucksandFins, the largest skatepark directory on the planet. I built this monster alone, fueled by a passion for the scene and a belief that our community deserves a global map. But let’s be real—the savings are running low, the stakes are higher than ever, and it’s time to take this mission to the pavement. I’m hitting the road across Portugal, powered by Pousadas de Juventude, with a singular, transparent goal: finding a sponsor or investor who believes in the value of this directory and data as much as I do. I’ll be hustling for support, pitching to builders, and sharing the raw reality of the wins and the inevitable losses along the way.

The tour begins at Ribamar Skatepark, a spot that feels like a fitting metaphor for the grind. Located in a region famous for its prehistoric dinosaur fossils, the park itself feels like a bit of a relic from another era. It’s a modest, local facility featuring an older concrete design that clearly shows its age. You won't find a modern megapark here. Instead, you get some basic street obstacles and a miniramp with no flat, that demand a bit more soul and effort to skate. It isn’t a "destination park" by any stretch of the imagination, but it is an honest piece of Portuguese skate history.

While the concrete surface might be a little rough around the edges, the true magic of Ribamar lies just 1.5 kilometers down the road. After a session battling the aging infrastructure of the park, the proximity to Praia de Valmitão is a godsend. There is nothing quite like the shock of the cold Atlantic waters to rejuvenate tired legs after of a long day on the road and a session. It’s a good enough spot to skate with the crew and to prepare for the next move. Even if the park isn't the best of best, it's always cool to discover a new place and scratch it off your bucket list.

Ribamar might be a quick stop on the map, but it’s the first chapter in a journey to keep the TrucksandFins dream alive. The hustle is officially on.
