Welcome to the new Ennis skatepark in Montana

In the heart of Madison Valley, Ennis, Montana, is known worldwide for its fly fishing and rugged mountain views. Soon, it will also be known as the latest rural Montana town to embrace skate culture. The Ennis Lions Skatepark project is a community-driven initiative bringing a custom, state-of-the-art concrete skate facility to town.

The project originated from local middle and high school students who saw a need for more free, accessible youth recreation in Madison County. Rather than waiting around, the teens teamed up with adult skaters, parents, and community leaders to advocate for a space of their own.

The effort gained major momentum when the Ennis Lions Club donated a prime, 6,000-square-foot triangular lot situated directly behind Lions Club Park—a location kept safely outside local flood zones. To turn the triangular plot into a world-class park, community organizers partnered with Dreamland Skateparks, legendary builders known for high-end custom concrete shapes. The project is backed by two powerhouses in Pacific Northwest skateboarding, including Montana Pool Service—the non-profit founded by Pearl Jam bassist and Montana native Jeff Ament—and the Montana Skatepark Association, which provides funding and guidance for small-town skate projects across the state.

At community design sessions, residents of all ages brainstormed features for the multi-use park. Local skaters suggested subtle trout-shaped design elements integrated directly into the concrete layout, serving as a clever nod to the town’s deep fly-fishing culture on the Madison River.

With an estimated price tag between $200,000 and $350,000, the project relies on a mix of grant assistance and grassroots support. From art deck auctions and t-shirt sales to individual donations, the community continues to rally behind the park to provide a safe, active gathering space for generations to come. The official opening is set for the 25th of July.
