In a recent video, Daniel Websdale traveled to Leipzig to track down Robin Hofmann, the author of what many are calling the "Skate Bible." The meeting wasn't just a formal sit-down; it kicked off in the most authentic way possible: with a Game of S.K.A.T.E. between the two. This served as the perfect icebreaker, grounding the interview in the very culture that the book celebrates.

Robin Hofmann is a lifelong skater from Leipzig who never originally intended to be an author. His project began as a personal challenge on Instagram, where he committed to posting one "skate verse" every day for a year. These verses captured the unwritten rules, the frustrations, and the shared joys of the skating world—lines like "The one who films gets priority." As his following grew, the community began asking for a physical version. What started as a digital experiment soon transformed into a beautifully designed book that acts as a humorous and poetic guide to the soul of skateboarding.
During the interview, Robin revealed the surprisingly humble origins of the project. The idea didn't start with skateboarding, but with beer. Robin and his friends had joked about creating a "Beer Bible" to document the "commandments" of their social gatherings.
While the beer project remained a fun idea among friends, it sparked a realization for Robin: skateboarding has its own set of sacred, unspoken laws and a deep sense of "faith" that keeps people getting back up after a fall. He took that concept of a "bible"—a collection of wisdom and rules—and applied it to the skatepark. The result is a project built "by the community, for the community," turning the raw energy of the streets into a printed gospel for skaters worldwide.
