Skating the New Torres Vedras Várzea Park

The New Pulse of Portuguese Skateboarding: Torres Vedras Várzea Park

The transformation of the Torres Vedras skate scene reached a fever pitch late last year with the grand reopening of the Main Skatepark in the Parque Verde da Várzea. Following a comprehensive €150,000 renovation that concluded on November 23, 2025, the facility has officially shed its old skin to become one of the most formidable concrete playgrounds in the region. Spanning an impressive 1,500 square meters, the park has been meticulously redesigned to not only serve the local community but to meet the rigorous technical standards required for national-level competitions.

Our team—consisting of Margarida Cepeda, Niel Dhondt, and myself, Haroun Cherif—recently made the trip to put the new layout to the test. From the moment we dropped in, the quality of the craftsmanship was evident. The flow of the park is seamless, offering a versatile landscape of fresh ramps, rails, and perfectly leveled ledges that cater to both technical street enthusiasts and high-speed transition riders. It is a multi-disciplinary hub where the energy is fueled by a mix of skaters, BMX riders, and inline skaters all pushing each other to higher levels.

After a full day of sessions, our verdict is unanimous: the park is officially approved and absolutely worth the visit for anyone traveling through central Portugal. The design encourages creativity, and the smooth finish of the concrete makes for a forgiving yet fast ride. It’s the kind of spot that rewards both the seasoned pro looking for a challenge and the amateur looking to dial in their basics on world-class obstacles.

For those planning a road trip to check out the Várzea park, finding the right home base is key. When we are in the area, we always drop our bags at the Pousada de Juventude Santa Cruz. It’s a reliable, skater-friendly spot that keeps you close to both the city action and the coastal breeze. You can check their availability at pousadasjuventude.pt to round out your trip. Whether you're hunting for a competition-grade line or just a solid afternoon session with the crew, the new Torres Vedras park on Rua António Leal D'ascenção is a must-stop on the map.
