Built as part of the Espaço Jovem redevelopment in 2022–2023, Tábua Skatepark is a compact skate facility located beside Jardim Sarah Beirão in the centre of Tábua. The project was created to provide young people with dedicated facilities for skateboarding, parkour, street workout and other wheeled and urban sports.
The skate area is integrated into the wider Espaço Jovem, with paved areas and skate obstacles forming part of a larger recreational complex that also includes street workout, street basketball, table tennis, parkour and cycling and pedestrian routes. The design was intended to create an accessible, modern and intergenerational public space.
Construction of the Espaço Jovem was underway by March 2022, with the project nearing completion by August. The completed facility was opened to the community in 2023 as part of the €289,530.90 redevelopment of the Jardim Sarah Beirão surroundings.
The municipality awarded the main construction contract to Joaquim Fernandes Marques & Filho, S.A. I could not find documentation identifying a separate specialist skatepark designer or manufacturer, so the skatepark builder should currently be recorded as unknown.
