Built by Wasteland Skateparks in 2022, Oliveira do Hospital Skatepark is a compact concrete bowl and street facilitylocated within Parque dos Marmelos, one of the city's main urban green spaces. The skatepark was created as part of the €800,000 redevelopment of the 2.5-hectare park, which was officially inaugurated in September 2022.
The centrepiece is a distinctive kidney-shaped concrete bowl, with Wasteland's project documentation explaining that the design retained the existing drainage infrastructure rather than demolishing and rebuilding the entire structure. The result is a flowing transition space complemented by several basic street obstacles.
The skatepark sits alongside a children's area, outdoor recreation spaces, an amphitheatre, artificial lakes and other facilities within Parque dos Marmelos. When the park initially reopened in March 2022, the skate area remained temporarily closed while it underwent the necessary certification intervention; it was subsequently incorporated into the completed recreational complex.
