The new Santa Cruz Skatepark (located at the Municipal Sports Park in Silveira) finally opened its doors in August 2024, and the Trucks and Fins crew recently headed down to check it out. It’s definitely a fun spot if you’re looking for something a bit different and have the skills to handle it. The layout is a specialized setup featuring a jump box, quarterpipes, a spine, and a speedbump. Because of that transition-heavy, "modular" style, it’s a great park for bikes and experienced skaters who like to catch air. However, it is a bit limited—if you’re looking for a traditional street plaza with endless ledges and stairs, you won't find it here.
In fact, Santa Cruz is pretty much devoid of other street-skate options, which is why most locals and visitors eventually migrate toward the coast. If the park feels too cramped or you've finished your session, the move is to head over to the beautiful Praia de Santa Helena.
It’s one of the most iconic spots in the area and the perfect place to grab a drink, watch the waves, and refresh your legs. It’s the classic Santa Cruz finish: a technical session followed by the best view in town.
