Built by A|Park (the former Academia dos Patins) in 2024, Ponte da Barca Skatepark is a large approximately 1,200 m² modular park located beside the local school and municipal sports facilities. The park was officially inaugurated in December 2024 after an investment of around €150,000.
The park features a varied combination of jump ramps, quarters, funboxes, curbs, banks, soap boxes, a large miniramp and technical street obstacles. A dedicated beginner's area allows less experienced riders to develop their skills, while the main section provides more demanding lines suitable for advanced and competition-level skating.
The facility was designed for skateboarding, BMX Freestyle and inline skating and was built to certified competition standards. Its location alongside the schools and municipal sports complex makes it an important new action-sports facility for Ponte da Barca and the surrounding Alto Minho region.
The project had been proposed by the municipality as early as 2020, following a decision to create a dedicated skatepark in Ponte da Barca, before the final project was developed and constructed several years later.
