Parque da Liberdade

Parque da Liberdade is a popular street skating spot in Castro Verde, featuring stairs, banks, ledges and a handrail integrated into the public-space environment. Rather than being a conventional purpose-built skatepark, the spot has developed around existing urban architecture and public-space features.

The location has a connection to Castro Verde's emerging skate culture. In 2023, the Futurama cultural programme brought the Rultabulo project to the park, created by Colectivo Til as a space for skateboarding, social interaction and experimentation with public space. The project was inspired by local young people's desire for a skatepark.

In 2026, the park became the setting for the first Festival Liberdade, which included an urban-sports programme with skateboarding, BMX and freestyle scootering. For the event, Drop the Edge installed a complete temporary skatepark, including ramps and obstacles, specifically for the festival.
