Built by Wasteland Skateparks in 2025, Baixa da Banheira Skatepark is located in Parque José Afonso on Avenida Capitães de Abril. The new concrete facility revived a historic local skate spot known for its distinctive “Poços” — circular concrete transitions that had existed since the early 1990s.
The modern park combines the character of the original spot with a considerably more extensive layout, including two bowls, banks, a quarter pipe, manual pad, ledges, curbs and rails. This gives the park a mixture of flowing transition lines and technical street features.
The redevelopment followed years of local campaigning to restore the skate facility. The municipality began construction in October 2024, investing approximately €137,500, and the completed park was officially inaugurated on 23 July 2025.
The result is particularly significant for the local skate community because it doesn't simply introduce a new park — it brings back a historic Portuguese skateboarding location while modernising it for a new generation.
