Built by A|Park (the former Academia dos Patins) in 2021, Amarante Skatepark is located in the Parque do Ribeirinho, on the left bank of the Tâmega River. The compact modular park features a quarter pipe, funbox, ledge, bank and handrail, arranged in a straightforward back-and-forth layout.
The project was initiated following a request from a group of young Amarante residents and represented an investment of approximately €130,000. The municipality designed the facility with several levels of difficulty, including areas for beginners and intermediate riders as well as more demanding obstacles.
The park has since become an important part of Amarante's youth and action-sports infrastructure. The municipality has hosted Park Sesh events here, bringing together professional skateboarders, BMX riders and inline skaters for demonstrations, workshops and best-trick sessions.
Its location beside the Tâmega and within Amarante's extensive green riverfront gives the park a particularly pleasant setting, with the surrounding trees providing considerable shade during summer sessions.
