Located in Parque Tenente-Coronel Jaime Filipe da Fonseca, commonly known as Parque do Avião, the Skatepark do Avião is a compact facility combining a street section with a dedicated transition area. The layout features a serious amount of curbs, rails and ramps, together with mini halfpipe, creating lines for different levels of ability.
The skatepark was designed by Francisco Lopez and built by SKATELOPEZ in 2016. The project was developed with input from members of the local skateboarding community and was designed to provide suitable facilities for skateboarding, BMX freestyle and inline skating. The park includes street obstacles inspired by the urban environment, including stairs, rails, ledges and banks.
The skatepark forms part of the wider Parque do Avião recreational area alongside sports courts, children's facilities, pedestrian routes and green space beside the River Lis.
