Located in the Breijinho area of Samora Correia, this compact concrete skatepark is part of a wider neighbourhood sports and recreation area. Built in 2008, the park was designed for skateboarding, inline skating and BMX, with banks, stairs, a London gap, handrail and quarterpipe.
But this is also a park where logic appears to have taken the day off. The obstacles are arranged in a strange, disconnected combination that can feel almost Salvador Dalí-esque — everything is technically there, but very little seems to make sense together. Lines are awkward, transitions don't always flow into one another and the layout offers few natural combinations. It is the kind of skatepark where you spend more time wondering “why is that there?” than thinking about your next trick.
Despite its shortcomings, Samora Correia is an interesting example of the early generation of Portuguese municipal skateparks. Built in 2008, it has remained part of the town's outdoor sports infrastructure for more than 15 years, even if the design has not exactly aged like fine wine.
