Penela Skatepark is a small modular skatepark located on Avenida Infante Dom Pedro, beneath the historic walls of Penela Castle. The compact setup includes a quarter pipe, incline, small delta and curb, providing a simple selection of transition and street obstacles.
The park has an interesting community origin: the “Penela Skate Parque” was one of the winning proposals of Penela's 2014 Participatory Budget, submitted by local student Tomás Mendes. The municipality subsequently inaugurated the winning skatepark project on 25 April 2016.
The exact company responsible for supplying and installing the ramps is not identified in the municipal documents I found. Given the modular construction and the company's extensive work on similar Portuguese municipal parks, A|Park (the former Academia dos Patins) is a plausible attribution, but I would currently mark it as probable rather than confirmed.
The park was later rehabilitated by the municipality in 2024, with the council's management report explicitly stating that the original skatepark was built through the 2014 Participatory Budget and that the rehabilitation was completed to improve safety and quality.
