Welcome to the newly renovated Watauga Skate Park, a revitalized destination for skaters of all ages and skill levels. Still nestled within Indian Springs Park, adjacent to the Community Center on Indian Springs Road, the skatepark is now surrounded by a wide range of amenities, including covered seating, fitness and picnic stations, a playground, restrooms, soccer fields, ample parking, and a half-mile walking trail—making it a vibrant hub for the entire community.
Before its transformation, the skatepark consisted of a simple flat concrete slab with metal prefabricated ramps, enclosed by a deteriorating chain link fence. Over time, the City noticed a steady decline in use and responded quickly by engaging with local skaters, who expressed a clear desire for a modern, poured-in-place concrete skatepark—a space they could truly call their own.
SPA Skateparks was honored to lead the effort as the City’s design-build skatepark contractor, tasked with reimagining and rebuilding the space. In collaboration with New Line Skateparks, City staff, and a dedicated focus group of local skaters, the team worked closely to shape a design that reflected the community’s vision and needs.
The result is a fresh, community-driven skatepark that blends seamlessly with its surroundings and is built to inspire the next generation of Watauga skaters.
