The Peter Sullivan Skatepark (commonly known as the Ambleside Skatepark), located at 1200 Argyle Avenue in West Vancouver, British Columbia, is a premier 10,000-square-foot facility that serves as a high-performance anchor for the North Shore. This project was designed and built by New Line Skateparks in 2016. The park was renamed in honor of the late Peter Sullivan, a local skateboarding pioneer and founder of Supra Distribution, whose personal fundraising and advocacy efforts were instrumental in replacing the site's original, outdated asphalt park with a world-class concrete landscape.
The park is famous for the phrase etched into its concrete—"Skateboarders rule the world"—which was a personal mantra of Peter Sullivan. The site is perfectly integrated into Ambleside Park, offering stunning views of the Burrard Inlet and the Lions Gate Bridge. The layout is "all-wheel friendly," providing technical challenges for advanced riders while maintaining an accessible scale for the local youth.
The park is situated within a vibrant recreational corridor, adjacent to basketball courts, a ball hockey area, and the popular Ambleside beach and seawall. The site features professional-grade lighting, integrated seating for spectators, and nearby washroom facilities. Today, the Peter Sullivan Skatepark is recognized as one of the busiest and most well-designed parks in the Greater Vancouver area, serving as a fitting tribute to a man who dedicated his life to growing the skateboarding community.
