Trucks and Fins is a huge present to the whole skate community - not just for the skating people, but also for shops, builders and schools. Super easy to use and can't believe how complete it is.

Born out of immense community advocacy, Mahon RDS Skatepark—also known as the Mahon Skate Plaza—is a premier street-skating destination on Vancouver's North Shore. The park's origin story began in early 2022 when the deeply loved Lonsdale Skatepark was demolished to clear room for a new community recreation centre. Following a massive public outcry and online petition from the local skate community, the City of North Vancouver fast-tracked an emergency budget to build an alternative. While originally conceived as a temporary solution, the city ultimately established the plaza as a permanent neighborhood fixture to ensure North Van's street skaters always had a dedicated home base.
The park was designed and constructed by Transition Construction, a specialized firm renowned for building high-quality concrete setups across British Columbia. To give the park an authentic, premium edge, the builders formed an official partnership with the iconic Canadian streetwear and skateboard brand, Red Dragon Apparel (RDS). Mirroring the legendary corporate plaza spots popularized in classic 1990s and 2000s skate videos, RDS heavily sponsored the project by outfitting the park with high-grade, custom-cut granite features.
The layout features a raw, hyper-focused street design that links together perfectly spaced obstacles for optimum flow.Rather than prioritizing transitions or bowls, the park is explicitly engineered for technical ledge and flatground lines. The crown jewel of the plaza is a massive, premium installation boasting the longest continuous skateable granite ledge in Canada. The plaza also features two standalone RDS granite ledges, smaller granite ledges, a flat rail, manual pads, and a pair of the brand’s signature concrete skate barriers. Built out of buttery-smooth, cast-in-place concrete, the plaza is specifically structured to offer progressive lines that are highly approachable for beginners while still challenging enough for world-class pros.
Mahon RDS Skatepark is an outdoor, concrete street plaza that functions as an entirely free, public facility. Because of its flatground focus and lack of deep drops or intimidating transitions, it is accessible to all skill levels from absolute beginners to advanced tech skaters. The facility operates without floodlights, restricting sessions to daylight hours, and is located at Mahon Park on Forbes Avenue in North Vancouver, British Columbia.
TrucksandFins Tip: This spot is a dream come true for anyone who loves the distinct smooth slide of real street granite. Because the plaza is integrated directly into the greater Mahon Park, visiting skaters have easy access to the surrounding park amenities, including vehicle parking, public washrooms, and open green spaces.
