Nestled between the iconic Rijksmuseum, Van Gogh Museum, and Stedelijk Museum, Skatepark Museumplein is Amsterdam’s newest urban icon. Unveiled in May 2025, this Nine Yards project transforms a historic cultural hub into a dynamic, inclusive space for sports and community. What started as an informal gathering spot for local skaters has been elevated into a world-class facility that seamlessly blends into the city's fabric.
Designed and built by Nine Yards in close collaboration with the City of Amsterdam and the local skate community, the park is a masterclass in contextual design. Every detail pays homage to its surroundings: the custom rails mirror the windows of the Rijksmuseum, while the intricate brickwork references the historic Amsterdam School style of architecture. The result is a compact, versatile park that balances fluid flow with technical precision. It is a space built for everyone—from local pros and beginners to curious tourists—proving that sport, culture, and placemaking can perfectly coexist.
