The Mission Skatepark, located at 7650 Grand Street in Mission, British Columbia, is a premier concrete facility that serves as a modern recreational anchor for the Fraser Valley. This project was designed and built by New Line Skateparks and officially opened in July 2016, following 14 weeks of construction. The park was developed to replace an older legacy facility and was funded in part by provincial gaming revenue, reflecting a strong community commitment to youth and action sports.
The design is a high-performance "flow-plaza" that strikes a careful balance between street-style obstacles and transition features. It is anchored by an expansive, multi-level flow bowl that offers various depths and rhythmic hips for transition-oriented riders. The street section is heavily influenced by the local geography, featuring ledge and rail detailing that picks up on the architecture of the nearby Fraser River and its iconic landmark railway bridges. Technical obstacles include granite-capped hubba ledges, flat rails, diverse stair sets, and manual pads, all arranged to facilitate long, continuous lines through the 10,000-square-foot space.
Constructed with high-strength, smooth-troweled concrete, the facility was engineered to provide a fast, quiet riding surface while enduring the high-precipitation climate of the Lower Mainland. The park's layout is "all-wheel friendly," providing enough technical variety to challenge advanced riders while remaining approachable for beginners. The facility is fully integrated into the Mission Leisure Centre grounds, which offers a range of indoor amenities and clear sightlines for spectators. Today, the Mission Skatepark is recognized as one of the best well-rounded parks in the region, celebrated for its smooth finish and its role as a vibrant social hub for the community.
