ABOUT SKATEPARK

Forest Row skatepark

Forest Row Skatepark, now known as the Hugo Palmer Community Skatepark, is a distinctive concrete transition park in Forest Row, East Sussex. The original park had an unusual, undulating layout, reportedly designed by a pond builder, with a series of bumps and flowing transitions.

In 2021, Betongpark was brought in to extend and refurbish the existing skatepark. What began as an extension project developed into a much more comprehensive refurbishment, with the existing sections also being completely overhauled and resurfaced. The project was funded by the loved ones of local Forest Row resident Hugo Palmer, who sadly died while travelling in Australia in 2019. The park was subsequently renamed in his memory. Betongpark extended the existing flow section and incorporated a series of new features, including tacos, quarter pipes and gaps, while retaining the park's unusual undulating character. The refurbishment also involved smoothing and restoring the existing concrete, giving the whole park a more cohesive and rideable finish.

The result is a compact but characterful transition park with plenty of flow and interconnected lines. Its unconventional layout and local character make it quite different from a standard purpose-built skatepark.
