Calahorra skatepark

Calahorra Skatepark is a street-focused skatepark in the Parque de la Era Alta, beside the water reservoir and near Calle Goya in Calahorra, La Rioja. The current facility was designed by architect Daniel Yábar and built by SpokoRamps, with the project completed in June 2023. SpokoRamps describes the park as a combination of a polished concrete surface and granite elements.

The skatepark occupies an existing 31 × 25 metre concrete slab where an older modular skatepark had previously stood. The old facility was removed several years earlier because of its poor condition, while the concrete base remained. The new project restored the site to its original use with a permanent street-skating layout.

The layout consists of eight main spots distributed across the plaza, creating lines running along the length of the site as well as circular lines. Features include a manual pad, 7-metre flatbar, metal ledge, kicker, manual up, 90 cm granite quarter and two granite benches. The existing concrete surface was dry-polished before construction to remove erosion and roughness and provide a smoother riding surface.

The project was commissioned by the City of Calahorra, with Daniel Yábar responsible for the architectural project, construction direction and safety coordination. The construction contract was awarded to Roig i Fills Associats, while SpokoRamps is credited with the skatepark project/design and appears in its portfolio as the skatepark contractor/project.
