Constructed in 2017, the indoor skatepark in La Louvière stands as a shining blueprint for grassroots advocacy and creative financial engineering. Developed in close collaboration with local riders, municipal stakeholders, and community leaders, the facility was brought to life through a successful combination of localized crowdfunding campaigns and public government subsidies. Nine Yards was commissioned to lead both the design and construction phases, selected specifically for its specialized dual expertise in action sports architecture and structural engineering.
The park’s layout was co-created directly with the local skate scene to ensure that every obstacle served a distinct purpose for progression. The resulting street course features a highly durable, hybrid composition—masterfully blending heavy-duty structural timber, precision steel coping, and cast-in-place concrete elements.
This thoughtful material choice delivers a fast, low-vibration riding surface tailored for multiple skill levels. By bridging community desires with professional craftsmanship, the project successfully delivered a robust, long-lasting indoor sanctuary that continues to serve as a vital social and athletic anchor for youth culture in the region.
