Trucks and Fins is a huge present to the whole skate community - not just for the skating people, but also for shops, builders and schools. Super easy to use and can't believe how complete it is.

Schweitzerlaan 16, 1187 JD Amstelveen, Netherlands
Commissioned by the Municipality of Amstelveen, this 900 m² urban sports facility—popularly known as Skatepark Westwijk—is a standout addition to the Dutch skate landscape. Based on a dynamic concept by Concrete Matters, Nine Yards translated the initial drawings into precise engineering plans, handling the entire construction to deliver a highly versatile, future-proof park in 2025.
What sets the Amstelveen park apart is its rare combination of a technical street course and a deep, full-sized bowl section—a feature rarely seen at this scale in the Netherlands. Built using advanced shotcrete methods, the entire park was shaped efficiently without traditional formwork, ensuring a highly durable, monolithic concrete structure. To lean into an authentic street-style aesthetic, unique textures like steel tread plates were seamlessly integrated into the concrete features.
Navigating complex public space requirements was a cornerstone of this project. To address local noise concerns, Nine Yards engineered a multi-functional acoustic barrier: the exterior features a living green wall, while the interior functions as a legal graffiti canvas that elevates the park's urban atmosphere. Furthermore, because the site was built over a former grassy field prone to shifting, our team implemented a strategic three-month sand-cunet preloading process to guarantee an unshakeable foundation. Surrounded by fresh landscaping, modern street furniture, and a thriving community activation program, Westwijk has officially become Amstelveen's premier social and athletic hub.
