ABOUT SKATEPARK

Wellingborough skatepark

Wellingborough Skatepark was a concrete skatepark at Bassetts Close Park, Wellingborough, serving the local skateboarding, BMX and scooter community. The original facility was considered outdated and unsafe, leading to a long-running campaign for its replacement. Local skaters had first approached the former Wellingborough Borough Council about improving the facility in 2013.

The replacement was a bespoke in-situ spray-concrete skatepark, designed by Bendcrete Leisure Ltd in collaboration with North Northamptonshire Council. The planning documentation specifically identifies Bendcrete as involved in preparing the design and access statement. Construction of the new park began in November 2025, and the new facility was officially opened on 24 March 2026. It was built as part of a wider redevelopment of Bassetts Close Park, including new lighting, CCTV, play equipment and other improvements.
