Victor Garcia Municipal skatepark

Introducing the Rio Grande Valley’s newest public skatepark—a project setting a new benchmark for skatepark design and construction in South Texas. Located within Victor Garcia Park, the skatepark was designed and built by Austin-based SPA Skateparks, selected by the City of Pharr to lead the development.

The project was revived from earlier efforts dating back to 2015, when SPA Skateparks held a series of public input meetings to gather feedback from local skaters on desired features and terrain types. In collaboration with New Line Skateparks, SPA worked closely with the City to address site-specific challenges, beginning with comprehensive drainage planning and defining the project scope.

To resolve long-standing water retention issues at Victor Garcia Park, the City of Pharr self-performed the regrading of the entire site—ensuring a more functional and sustainable foundation for the new facility. The skatepark design, shaped by both community input and City priorities, moved forward into detailed construction drawings following concept approval.

The City celebrated the start of construction with a groundbreaking ceremony on October 4, 2018, marking the beginning of a transformative project that would soon become a centerpiece for action sports in the region.
