ABOUT SKATEPARK

Tomar skatepark

Built in 2024, Tomar Skatepark is a modern concrete street-focused facility located between the city's railway and bus stations, beside Várzea Grande. The park was designed by architect and skater Francisco Lopez (SkateLopez), who worked with the local skateboarding community to develop the layout and respond to the needs of local riders.

The park combines a variety of street and transition elements, including quarter pipes, banks, a funbox, manual pad, ledges, curbs, flat rails and handrails. The layout creates several lines across the concrete surface, offering opportunities for both technical street skating and more flowing combinations.

Construction was carried out by Fernando L. Gaspar – Sinalização e Equipamentos Rodoviários, S.A., following an investment of around €150,000. The new facility also accommodates BMX Freestyle and inline skating, alongside skateboarding.

The park opened to the public on 15 August 2024, with the official inauguration following five days later on 20 August. It replaced the city's former skatepark, which had been demolished in 2021, finally giving Tomar's skate community a dedicated facility again.
