Trucks and Fins is a huge present to the whole skate community - not just for the skating people, but also for shops, builders and schools. Super easy to use and can't believe how complete it is.

Located behind the Kelsey Recreation & Wellness Centre in the northern gateway town of The Pas, Unity Skatepark is a testament to raw community grit and determination. The town originally built a basic skatepark back in 2003, but because it followed the outdated style of pouring concrete ramps directly onto a raw asphalt pad, the freeze-thaw cycles quickly destroyed it. In 2013, a volunteer non-profit group called The Pas Families Building a Better Community launched a massive, decade-long fundraising effort—ranging from community raffles to major corporate sponsorships—to bring a world-class, permanent concrete facility to the youth of Northern Manitoba.
The construction of Unity Skatepark represents a major engineering battle against the rugged Canadian shield environment. The specialized build team at Transition Construction was brought in to execute the physical excavation and shape the high-density concrete. After breaking ground and completing the initial foundation, the builders hit a major structural hurdle: a massive, deep subterranean peat moss deposit that required extensive additional excavation. This environmental challenge, combined with sudden post-pandemic material inflation, created a massive budget overrun that temporarily paused construction phases while the community rallied to raise the final funds required for the ultimate concrete pours.
The layout is designed as a modern, inclusive wheel park engineered to serve skateboards, BMX bikes, inline skates, and scooters simultaneously. Departing entirely from the old 2003 obstacle styling, the blueprint focuses heavily on smooth, continuous flow and technical progression. Built out of buttery-smooth, cast-in-place concrete, the footprint features a seamless mixture of transitional quarter pipes for speed generation alongside a dedicated street plaza layout. Street skaters can trace lines through low-impact flat banks, manual pads, step-ups, and a diverse selection of grind rails and perimeter ledges explicitly structured to help beginners build up their confidence safely.
Unity Skatepark is an outdoor, public concrete facility that is completely free to ride. The facility operates as a daytime-only venue without sports floodlights and is situated right on the recreational complex grounds at 523 Smith Street, The Pas, Manitoba. The park's location behind the Kelsey Recreation Centre is perfect for travelers, providing immediate access to vehicle parking, indoor gym amenities, and public washrooms.
