ABOUT SKATEPARK

Sintra Spot RIP

Sintra Spot was a distinctive DIY concrete skatepark built by the local skate community in 2018 on private property near Avenida Amália Rodrigues in Algueirão. Developed with the permission of the property owner, the spot transformed an otherwise unused space into a compact and creative skatepark featuring a quarterpipe, manual pad, flat rail, ledge, bank, wallride, kicker and pole.

The project was entirely community-driven and had the raw character typical of Portuguese DIY skate spots. Its unusual combination of concrete terrain and improvised obstacles created a unique local spot that became part of Sintra's skateboarding scene.

Unfortunately, Sintra Spot no longer exists and has been demolished. The project remains an interesting example of the DIY skateboarding culture that developed around the Lisbon area, where local communities have repeatedly created their own spaces.
