Trucks and Fins is a huge present to the whole skate community - not just for the skating people, but also for shops, builders and schools. Super easy to use and can't believe how complete it is.

Perched high up on the slopes of Burke Mountain, the Sheffield Skate Spot is a modern, beautifully integrated neighborhood micro-park. Opened as part of a larger community park project, this spot was engineered to provide Coquitlam's mountain community with a dedicated youth zone. Instead of being an isolated concrete slab, the skate spot is seamlessly woven into a vibrant public space that includes multi-sport courts, a spray park, and dramatic lookout points over the Fraser Valley.
The skate spot was both designed and constructed in 2022 by Transition Construction, the premier specialized skatepark builders behind some of British Columbia’s finest modern concrete. Tasked with handling the challenging, steep grade of the mountainside terrain, Transition Construction expertly sculpted a crisp, multi-level street plaza that blends architectural aesthetic with skateability.
The layout is a textbook "skate spot"—a compact, street-focused installation designed for flowing flatground lines and technical progression rather than heavy transition riding. It utilizes buttery-smooth, cast-in-place concrete that gracefully steps down with the mountainside. Skaters will find a highly functional, progression-friendly setup featuring a crisp flat bank, a low manual pad, a flat rail, and long perimeter ledges. The space is engineered to be approachable for neighborhood kids and beginner street skaters, yet clean and precise enough to allow advanced riders to piece together highly technical lines.
The Sheffield Skate Spot is an outdoor, concrete street spot that functions as a completely free, public facility. Given its smooth, low-impact design, it is perfectly suited for beginners, tech skaters, and street enthusiasts. The facility does not feature floodlights for night riding and is located within Sheffield Park on Chandler Street (near Sheffield Avenue) on Burke Mountain in Coquitlam, British Columbia.
TrucksandFins Tip: Because it is situated on a steep mountainside, the park offers some of the best panoramic views of any skate spot in the Lower Mainland. If you are visiting for a long session, the surrounding park is fully equipped with modern washrooms, drinking fountains, picnic areas, and free public Wi-Fi provided by the City of Coquitlam.
