The new Riesa street skatepark was, above all else, a true passion project for Goodcrete. The local skate scene, rooted there for over twenty years through the Hot Wheels e.V. association, had its humble beginnings on an old parking lot that served as their DIY spot for many years.
In 2009, the association had to vacate the parking lot, but the city provided them with an old school sports hall where they could install their self-built ramps. Following this long-term interim use, the redesign of Merzdorf Park in 2021 created a multi-generational park where the skate community finally found a permanent home. Funded through the European Regional Development Fund (ERDF), the project delivered a skate area, a beach volleyball court, and dedicated graffiti walls, offering local youth a vibrant space to express themselves away from screens.
The project was built in 2021, covering a total area of 650 m² with an approximate cost of €175,000.
