Commissioned by Salford City Council, VelosolutionsUK transformed an underutilised former bowling green into a vibrant all-wheeled sports facility. Working closely with the council and landscape architect Elsie Josland, the design brought together a 200m pump track, Site Safe containers with utility supplies, and floodlighting — breathing new life into a neglected space.
The design approach prioritised making the most of every square metre for wheeled sports of all kinds. Construction began with the removal of existing fencing, with aluminium trackway laid across the site to protect the ground and minimise soil disturbance throughout the build. A comprehensive drainage system was installed to manage water efficiently and prevent waterlogging in adverse conditions.
In line with VelosolutionsUK's sustainability policy, recycled aggregates were used as the primary construction material — reducing ecological impact without compromising on quality or performance.
