ABOUT SKATEPARK

Murdy Skatepark

Murdy Skatepark is a historic 2,000-square-foot concrete skatepark located within Murdy Park in Huntington Beach, California. Opened in August 1993, it was the first municipal skateboard park in Orange County and one of the earliest modern public concrete skateparks in California. The compact, oblong layout was originally built with curbs and benches and a maximum drop of approximately 18 inches. Created after Huntington Beach introduced restrictions on skateboarding in downtown commercial areas, the park served as a pioneering test of the public skatepark concept and helped demonstrate that dedicated municipal facilities could successfully serve local skateboarders. Despite its small size and age, Murdy Skatepark remains an active city facility and was specifically preserved during the redevelopment of Murdy Park.
