The Martensville Skatepark, located within the Kinsmen Park complex in Martensville, Saskatchewan, is a 10,000-square-foot concrete facility that stands as one of the premier action sports destinations in the province. This project was designed and built by New Line Skateparks in 2015, following a dedicated community-led initiative to replace aging infrastructure with a modern, high-performance landscape. The park was developed to serve as a regional anchor, providing a safe and progressive environment for skateboarders, BMX riders, and scooter enthusiasts.
The design is a sophisticated "flow-plaza" hybrid that masterfully utilizes the site’s natural grade to create a multi-level riding experience. It features a technical street section equipped with granite-capped hubba ledges, flat rails, and a central "A-frame" hip. These elements are seamlessly integrated with a variety of transition features, including a versatile flow bowl with rhythmic hips and quarter pipes that serve as return walls. The layout is engineered for "infinite lines," allowing riders to maintain high speeds as they transition between the upper street tiers and the lower flow sections.
Constructed with high-strength, smooth-troweled concrete, the park was specifically engineered to withstand Saskatchewan’s extreme temperature fluctuations and heavy freeze-thaw cycles. The design also emphasizes community integration, featuring wide concrete aprons for spectators, integrated seating blocks, and clear sightlines that promote a safe and social atmosphere. Located adjacent to the Martensville Athletic Pavilion and the local aquatic center, the skatepark is a focal point of the city’s recreational corridor. Today, the Martensville Skatepark is celebrated for its high build quality and its role in fostering a vibrant, inclusive action sports culture for youth across the Saskatoon region.
