Longford Skatepark is a modern concrete skatepark located on Park Road in Longford, County Longford, Ireland. Built on the site of the former Longford Greyhound Track, the 750 m² facility was designed by Vulcano Skateparks and constructed in 2023. Construction was completed in November 2023, with the official opening taking place on 16 February 2024.
The predominantly street-style park features a variety of ramps, banks, rails, ledges and transition elements, creating a versatile space for skateboarders, BMX riders and other wheeled sports. The facility is enclosed and located close to the Royal Canal Greenway and the future Longford Town cycleway.
The project has a strong community story. Local young people formed the Longford Skatepark Committee and campaigned for a dedicated skatepark for more than a decade. Their efforts eventually led to government funding of €405,000 through the Town and Village Renewal Scheme, with Longford County Council providing additional match funding.
The former greyhound track was transformed into a new community recreation space, with the skatepark becoming the first phase of a larger redevelopment of the site. Officially opened by Minister Heather Humphreys in February 2024, the park provides Longford's skateboarding community with its first dedicated facility and has become an important new gathering place for young people in the town.
