Killarney Skatepark is a modern concrete skatepark located at the Killarney Sports & Leisure Centre in County Kerry, Ireland. Designed by Vulcano Skateparks and constructed in 2023 by Browne Bros. Site Services in partnership with Vulcano, the park was officially opened on 23 June 2023. It provides facilities for skateboarding, BMX, roller skating and scooters.
The park combines street and transition elements in a compact flow-oriented layout. Features include ramps, rails, street obstacles and a bowl, with smaller features for beginners alongside larger transitions for more experienced riders. The layout was designed to provide a varied riding experience for different ages and ability levels.
The skatepark has a remarkable community history. The campaign for a public skatepark in Killarney began around 2003, with local skaters and supporters campaigning for more than two decades before the project finally became reality. The Killarney Skatepark Committee worked closely with Kerry County Council and local representatives, while councillor Donal Grady was a particularly long-standing advocate for the project.
After the project received funding through the Sports Capital Programme, Kerry County Council appointed Browne Bros. Site Services to construct the facility in partnership with Vulcano Skateparks. Construction began in May 2023 and the finished park opened only a few weeks later.
Today, Killarney Skatepark provides a dedicated, traffic-free facility for the local wheeled-sports community and visitors to the town. After more than 20 years of campaigning, its opening represented the realisation of a long-standing dream for Killarney's skateboarders.
