Hackney Bumps is one of London's oldest surviving skateparks, a distinctive concrete park in Daubeney Fields in Clapton. Rather than a conventional street course or bowl, the park is made up of a flowing series of concrete bumps and transitions, with newer quarters, a flatbank hip, wallride, ledge and rail added to the original layout. The unusual terrain makes it a fun park for carving and pumping, while the newer obstacles add more possibilities for tricks.
The original skatepark was built in 1986 by the Greater London Council, making it one of the last public skate facilities commissioned by the GLC before its dissolution. After years of neglect, local skaters formed Hackney Bumps Community Group in 2019 and began a grassroots restoration, polishing the original concrete and repairing cracks. Betongpark's Daryl Nobbs provided technical expertise, while Betongpark later helped with new community-built additions. The restored park became fully rideable in 2021.
After skating, you can explore nearby Victoria Park and its lakes, gardens and cafés, or walk or cycle along the River Lea and Hackney Marshes.
