Built by A|Park (the former Academia dos Patins) in 2023, Água de Pau Skatepark is a compact modular skatepark located beside the municipal sports complex in the village of Água de Pau on São Miguel Island. The park was officially inaugurated on 26 March 2023 after being selected as the winning project of Lagoa's fifth Youth Participatory Budget.
Covering approximately 300 m², the park is designed primarily for beginners and features a straightforward back-and-forth layout. The obstacles include a central funbox, manual box, flatbar, quarter pipe and bank, providing a mix of basic street and transition features in a compact footprint.
The project was proposed by a group of local sixth-grade students and received majority support from the community through the participatory budgeting process. The municipality also upgraded the surrounding sports area, including the pavement, lighting and emergency vehicle access, as part of the project.
