Gilze skatepark is a compact 220 m² concrete transition park located at Vogelvlucht in Gilze. The park was created to replace the old, worn-out steel street park and was designed around a modern transition concept, with a series of connected mini ramps creating a flowing layout on a relatively small footprint.
The skatepark was designed and built by Mud Crew for the Municipality of Gilze en Rijen and opened in November 2024. Local young people were involved in the selection of the new design, which was also developed to accommodate skateboarding, inline skating, BMX and scooters.
The unusual layout focuses heavily on transition, with different heights and shapes of mini ramps, including a spine section, creating a compact but continuous flow.
