The Dorian Zev Kweller Memorial Skatepark, located in Founders Park, stands as the result of a decade-long effort led by Dripping Springs Skatepark Inc. The journey began in 2014, when local skateboarders envisioned building a dedicated skatepark to serve Dripping Springs' growing skate community. To help foster that community, a weekly skate night was launched at Dripping Springs Ranch Park—an experimental event that quickly became one of the city's most anticipated and well-attended youth gatherings. Now, ten years later, Ranch Park Skate Night remains a vibrant part of local culture. It has played a pivotal role in creating friendships, developing talent, and generating positive impact for countless young people. It was during these community skate nights in 2019 that SPA Skateparks facilitated the first of two public design input sessions. These collaborative meetings produced concept boards that helped spark a multi-year fundraising campaign. Thanks to numerous local events and private contributions, Dripping Springs Skatepark Inc. successfully raised over $100,000. By partnering with the Dripping Springs Community Foundation—a 501(c)(3) organization—the group gained the ability to formally manage and distribute funds for the skatepark. A major turning point came in 2022, with the passing of the Hays County Parks Bond, which provided the majority of the funding. The City of Dripping Springs also contributed, allocating additional resources for park amenities such as benches, trash receptacles, signage, and tables. The skatepark was designed and built by SPA Skateparks, who served as both the design-build contractor and Project Manager. Their scope included land clearing, subgrade preparation, and the full construction of the park's concrete skate terrain.
