Devonshire Green Skatepark is a historic city-centre skatepark in Sheffield, occupying part of the large public green in the Devonshire Quarter. The skatepark dates back to the 1990s, making it one of Sheffield's long-established outdoor skate facilities. By 2001, it was already an established part of the city's skate scene.
The park was created when Sheffield City Council reconstructed a former five-a-side football pitch specifically as a skatepark. Local skaters were involved in its development, with Seb Palmer, the owner of local skate shop Sumo, identified as one of the park's designers. Palmer described the design as an opportunity to introduce features and challenges that couldn't easily be found in the city's streets.
The facility has remained a well-known meeting point for Sheffield's skateboarding community for decades. Its central location makes it particularly accessible, surrounded by the bars, shops and independent businesses of the Devonshire Quarter. A major redevelopment of Devonshire Green in 2007–2008 improved the surrounding park while retaining the skatepark.
The park is relatively compact compared with Sheffield's larger modern facilities, but its history and central location have made Devonshire Green an important part of the city's skateboarding culture. It was already attracting local and visiting skaters around the turn of the millennium and continues to be used today.
