The Carstairs Regional Skatepark, located in Carstairs, Alberta, was specifically designed to stand out among the high concentration of facilities in the surrounding communities. Driven by local skaters who wanted something entirely unique, this project was designed and built by New Line Skateparks.
The park's architecture introduces a highly creative "organic flow" typology while still delivering the timeless staples of technical street skating. Thanks to strong community involvement and generous local in-kind donations, the design team was also able to achieve the community's dream of including a small, stand-alone bowl. Rather than blending everything into a single "mash-up," the park is strategically divided into three distinct terrain zones. When the facility is busy, these separate areas safely increase carrying capacity and significantly reduce user conflict. When the park is quiet, advanced riders can seamlessly link lines, gaps, and transfers across all three zones for an exciting multi-terrain experience.
