Trucks and Fins is a huge present to the whole skate community - not just for the skating people, but also for shops, builders and schools. Super easy to use and can't believe how complete it is.

The Carrington Plaza Skate Spot, situated in the heart of the Carrington neighborhood in North Calgary, represents a shift toward "integrated recreation" within modern residential developments. Spanning approximately 3,000 square feet, this facility was designed by New Line Skateparks in a high-level collaboration with Mattamy Homes, NAK Design Strategies, and Heavy Industries. Rather than a traditional fenced-off sports facility, the Carrington spot is a "skateable public square" that functions as both a high-performance practice space and a sophisticated community gathering point.
The design philosophy focuses on "tactful urbanism," where the skateable features are disguised as high-end architectural elements. The layout features precision-engineered granite ledges, "slappy" curbs, and low-profile manual pads that double as public seating. One of the most striking aspects of the project is the integration of public art; the space features custom sculptural elements and high-contrast concrete finishes that mirror the sleek, modern aesthetic of the surrounding Carrington Greenway.
Because the spot is located within a primary pedestrian corridor, the construction prioritized acoustic sensitivity and durable materials that could withstand Calgary’s extreme temperature fluctuations. The project serves as a premier example of the "Skate Spot" concept—a smaller, localized facility that provides essential street-style terrain right where people live. Today, the Carrington Plaza Skate Spot is celebrated for its ability to normalize skateboarding within the urban fabric, providing a safe, vibrant space for local youth while enhancing the visual and social value of the neighborhood.
