Brookhurst Skatepark, also known as Anaheim West Skatepark, is a concrete skatepark located within Brookhurst Park in west Anaheim, California. Designed and built by Purkiss-Rose, the approximately 10,000-square-foot facility opened around 2002 and combines bowls and transition with a full street section featuring stairs, rails, ledges, banks and other obstacles. The skatepark occupies a site with deep roots in Anaheim's skateboarding history, as Brookhurst Park was formerly home to Sadlands, the famous lunar-themed playground that became an unofficial skate spot in the 1970s and 1980s and was skated by Tony Hawk. The modern skatepark was designed as a tribute to Sadlands, incorporating crater-like terrain and distinctive rounded features inspired by the original spot. Brookhurst Skatepark remains part of the city's active skatepark network and is one of Anaheim's most historically significant skateboarding locations.
