Unveiled in July 2025, the skatepark at Brasapark is one of the most unique engineering and design feats in the Netherlands. Stretched directly across the roof of the redeveloped A9 highway tunnel, this 1,600 m² skate track winds like a ribbon through a massive new green recreational space. Commissioned by the City of Amsterdam, Nine Yards handled both the design and construction, delivering a striking, future-proof urban sports icon for the capital.
Building on top of a tunnel infrastructure required highly specialized engineering. Designed for intensive daily use, the entire facility is structurally optimized to support a weight load of 500 kg/m² while blending organically into the open landscape. Its impressive 125-meter linear layout ensures maximum visibility, creating an inviting, safe environment for both action sports athletes and park visitors.
Co-created alongside local riders to ensure it meets the community's genuine needs, the park is a masterclass in multidisciplinary versatility. The fluid track integrates a mini ramp, flow zone, and pump track with classic street features like rails, a euro gap, a quarter pipe, and a bowl corner. Built for everyone from local youth to seasoned pros across skateboarding, BMX, scootering, and inline skating, Brasapark stands as a vibrant testament to modern placemaking and inclusive urban design.
