In 2023, the township of Lansingerland unveiled a brand-new Urban Sports Park in Bleiswijk, transforming an underutilized public area into a vibrant, multi-generational athletic hub. Initiated at the recommendation of professional Dutch skateboarder Keet Oldenbeuving, Nine Yards was commissioned to lead the project from initial concept to final construction, drawing on extensive expertise in public skatepark engineering and bespoke architectural design.
The centerpiece of this transformation is a premium 450 m² custom concrete skatepark. Developed through an intensive collaborative workshop involving both Keet Oldenbeuving and local riders, the layout masterfully bridges the two primary disciplines of skateboarding: park and street. A focal point of the design is a centrally integrated concrete planter featuring a live tree, blending natural landscape architecture directly into the active riding space.
To ensure flawless execution and long-term durability, the facility was crafted with a high-quality hand-polished concrete finish for an optimal riding experience. An elegant anthracite concrete bench acts as both a functional ledge for skaters and a distinct visual boundary separating the skate zone from adjacent sports equipment. Finished with a curated color palette that blends seamlessly into the surrounding environment, the park stands as a cohesive, accessible landmark for action sports and community movement.
