The action sports scene in Columbia, Maryland, received a massive upgrade with the completion of the highly anticipated Phase Six expansion of Blandair Regional Park. As the crown jewel of this multi-million dollar development project, the brand-new Blandair Skatepark stands out as the largest, most modern public wheeled-sports facility in Howard County.Officially integrated into the park's vibrant west area, this destination plaza was built to answer years of local demand, giving the region’s skaters, surfskaters, bikers, and scooter riders a competition-level home to call their own.
The layout was brought to life through a master collaboration between the county's primary park engineers, Whitman, Requardt & Associates, and master planning architects GWWO and Mahan Rykiel, who worked closely with a specialized skatepark construction firm to ensure flawless execution. Spanning an impressive 15,000 square feet, the custom concrete design is a beautiful piece of engineering that blends seamlessly into the park's natural topography.Instead of just being a flat slab of concrete, the park works with the landscape's natural elevation changes.
