Beaumont-du-Lac Skatepark, also known as OTRO, is a unique concrete skateable sculpture located on Île de Vassivière in Beaumont-du-Lac, France. The project was created by Koo Jeong A, the Korean artist based in London, and was commissioned by the Limousin Region as part of a public art programme.
OTRO was created between 2009 and 2012 and consists of a series of interconnected bowls, a cradle and a tunnel, forming a flowing skateable landscape rather than a conventional skatepark. The sculptural form takes inspiration from the shoreline of Lake Vassivière, with its sinuous edges integrated directly into the surrounding meadow.
The concrete is finished in a distinctive phosphorescent green, giving the installation a striking appearance while reinforcing the idea of the park as an artwork to be experienced through movement. OTRO has become one of the world's more unusual skateable sculptures, combining contemporary art, architecture and skateboarding in a single landscape.
