Following strong demand from the local community, Alton Town Council worked with VelosolutionsUK to bring a pumptrack to the town. After exploring potential locations together, Anstey Park emerged as the natural choice — centrally located, close to existing amenities and a play park, and easily accessible for riders of all ages.
Consultation with the local riding community shaped the design throughout. The finished 110m track makes the most of the available space at Anstey Park, with multiple features including a double berm and adjacent 180° berms that create opportunities for advanced transfers.
Delivering the project required careful navigation of a site constraint: a medium-pressure gas main running along the western edge of the site. Precise mapping and close collaboration with a gas engineer ensured the track was positioned beyond the easement zone, with a comprehensive site management plan and method statements developed in coordination with the gas provider to protect both staff and assets during construction.
Alongside the track itself, the contract included a bike stand, tool station, and pump — all integrated neatly into the elevated start hill, giving riders everything they need to tune up before hitting the track.
