Urban Sportpark Goes skatepark

Completed in 2024, the Urban Sports Park in Goes stands as a premier example of modern, climate-adaptive placemaking. Serving as the main contractor, Nine Yards spearheaded a highly collaborative construction team alongside the Municipality of Goes and subcontractor Velosolutions. By pairing an intensive community participation process with advanced eco-engineering, the team delivered a world-class, multi-discipline facility that seamlessly integrates a custom concrete skatepark with a high-velocity asphalt pump track.

Designing the park required navigating stringent environmental, archaeological, and public infrastructure parameters. To honor the historic motte underlying the site, excavation was strictly capped at a depth of 60 cm. To meet zero-runoff sewage requirements, Nine Yards engineered a holistic water-management system. This included a large natural wadi drainage ditch and a comprehensive tree plan utilizing specialized underground crate systems to ensure healthy root growth. In total, 30 trees were planted to provide natural shade, aesthetic beauty, and optimal water retention.

Visually defined by an eye-catching, mirrored circular layout, the park features integrated round seating areas that encourage social interaction and community ownership. From a shelter outfitted with a living green sedum roof to professional night lighting, a public drinking water station, and thoughtful furniture placement, every detail was meticulously executed. The result is a vibrant, sustainable, and future-proof sports hub built to serve local athletes and families for generations.
