Unveiled in April 2025, Wassenaar’s brand-new 550 m² skatepark is a masterclass in how speed, quality, and character can coexist. Designed by Carve and built by Nine Yards, this park was delivered from initial request to festive opening in a record-breaking six months—all while working in close, intensive collaboration with the local skate community to ensure the layout perfectly matches their needs.

Carve’s design radiates a distinct retro aesthetic, featuring clean lines, recognizable shapes, and a classic flow that challenges seasoned riders while remaining approachable for beginners. From the outset, Nine Yards acted as a strategic advisor to seamlessly integrate the park into its public surroundings. Their team navigated complex site constraints, including a major underground gas pipeline and nearby tree canopies, while maintaining strict public safety guidelines.

To hit the ambitious timeline and stay strictly within budget, Nine Yards utilized an innovative, highly sustainable construction method. By combining shotcrete with durable corten steel walls, we eliminated the need for traditional formwork. This drastically accelerated production and installation, resulting in a low-maintenance, long-lasting urban landmark built for years of intensive use.
